2 Corinthians 13:11-13

– The Message

11 And that’s about it, friends.

Be cheerful.

Keep things in good repair.

Keep your spirits up.

Think in harmony.

Be agreeable.

Do all that and the God of love and peace will be with you for sure.

12 Greet one another with a holy embrace.

13 All the brothers and sisters here say hello.

  • Take a few minutes in silence to examine your day so far.
  • What things/experiences are giving you peace?
  • How do these things/experiences keep you cheerful, in good repair, in good spirits, harmonic, agreeable?
  • What things/experiences are taking peace from you?

  1. Lil Smith – Richardson, TX – My simple life… is not simple at all. Yet it is so simple when I let God lead me. I have been married to Greg for 27 years and we have three wonderful children. My simple life is not simple at all. Yet it is so simple when I let God take control. I followed God’s call to begin seminary at Perkins School of Theology in January 2006. I graduated in May 2011. My life is not simple at all. Yet it is so simple when I listen for God’s call. I began the Degree in the Art of Spiritual Direction at San Francisco Theological Seminary in January 2009. I graduated in May 2011. My life is not simple at all. Yet it is so simple when I listen for God's call. I was ordained in the Presbyterian Church USA and spent three amazing years in Pastoral Ministry at Highland Springs Senior Living in Dallas, TX. My life is not simple at all. Yet it is so simple when I listen for God's call. My passion is the Christian Spiritual Life. As a spiritual director and retreat leader, I am so blessed to hear how God is at work in the world. How is God at work in your life?

I am enjoying peaceful summer mornings. The chaos hits when the kids get up. But kids sleeping in makes for really peaceful mornings. I notice a real difference from the ultra-busy school mornings to the peace of this day. Easing into the day is pleasant. It gives me time to notice more details around me. I think this is my message from God today. Take time to look into the details and be at rest. Find the harmony in that moment and discover something new about God in the quiet center.
