Seeking God

God willeth to be seen and to be sought:

to be abided and to be trusted.

–  Julian of Norwich, Revelations of Divine Love 1393

  • Light a candle to remember Christ’s presence with you
  • Spend 5 to 15 minutes in silent meditation, paying attention to the breath
  • Use the quote of Julian of Norwich as a breath prayer.  As you breathe in, say “God willeth.”  As you breathe out, say “to be seen.”  Continue in with “God willeth” and out with “to be sought.”  Continue in with “god willeth” and out with “to be abided.” And lastly breathe in “God willeth,” and breathe out “to be trusted.”
  • As you continue to use this breath prayer in your meditation, notice what image comes to you.
  • Seek God in this image.
  • What piece(s) of this image show(s) abiding trust?
  • What message does God have for you in this image?
  • Is there a call to action?
  • Give thanks to God for the breath, for the time seeking God in prayer and for any  new insights you have been given.
  • Share as you feel led in the reply box below.
