Advent – Christmas Blessing by Howard Thurman

CHRISTMAS BLESSING

I will light candles this Christmas
Candles of joy, despite all the sadness,
Candles of hope where despair keeps watch.
Candles of courage where fear is ever present,
Candles of peace for tempest-tossed days,
Candles of grace to ease heavy burdens.
Candles of love to inspire all my living.
Candles that will burn all the year long.
– Howard Thurman

  • Light a candle to remember Christ’s presence with you.
  • Sit five to fifteen minutes in silent meditation paying attention to the deep breath.
  • What candle do you light to light the room?
  • What candle do you light to add light within?
  • What candle do you light to light the world?
  • As you savor the light, what message does God have for you?
  • How will you respond?
