Maundy Thursday: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 – Do This in Remembrance of Me.

During Holy Week, Readings and Meditations will be posted up to four times a day around  6 am, 12 pm, 3 pm, 6 pm

1 Corinthians 11:23-26

23For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, 24and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 25In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

  • Light a candle to remember Christ’s presence with you.
  • Sit five to fifteen minutes in silence bringing your attention to the Breath.
  • Jesus shared one last meal with the disciples, teaching them to remember his presence in the bread and the cup, ordinary elements of every family table that become extraordinary means of grace.
  • Paul extends the teaching of the table to the Corinthians.
  • What do you want to remember today about the new covenant in Jesus Christ?
  • How do you desire to encounter the presence of Christ today?
  • If you are able, attend a Maundy Thursday service tonight.
  • What new thing does God want you to know about the new covenant in Jesus Christ?
  • What is your message from God?
  • Give thanks to God for this time in prayer and for any new insights you have received.
  • Share as you feel led in the reply box below.
